Description
This is an extract of the Gaia DR3 catalog optimized for plate solving all but ultra-deep fields but suitable for other applications such as photometric color calibration as well. The catalog is indexed at HEALpixel level 8 and selects up to the 127 brightest sources in each level 8 HEALpixel, limited to magnitude 20. This ensures an even density of stars, providing sufficient stars for plate solving while avoiding overpopulation of the catalog in densely populated regions of the sky.
This catalog is developed for use with the Siril 1.4 series.
The catalog is provided as a single compressed data file. sha256sum files are provided containing the sha256sums of both the compressed and the uncompressed data file.
