Description

As part of the MORPHO project (Manufacturing, Overhaul, Repair for Prognosis Health Overreach), funded by HORIZON2020, this study explores recent advancements in the application of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor technology to develop a new generation of intelligent aeronautical components, such as engine fan blades (Fig. 1). A central focus of the research is the analysis of sensor data from FBG integrated within a specific section of a fan blade known as the Foreign Object Damage (FOD) panel (Fig. 1b). These integrated sensors were utilized during the Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process to enhance precision and efficiency in composite material production.
