Description
Supporting Individuals and the Family System during Perinatal Bereavement
Perinatal bereavement is specific in that the loss experienced by the parents is coupled with a lack of recognition of this loss by those around them, who often tend to minimize their pain. For people close to them, the child is not really “born”, he has “not yet lived”, he has not created links or memories. This article proposes, through a few clinical vignettes, to describe the healing process which allows parents to rebuild themselves, but also the family system to re-establish ties around the tear caused by the event.
