Effects Known to be Caused by Hyperfine Interactions

  • 1. ROR icon University of Rostock

Description

Starting with the basic definition of hyperfine couplings, effects that hyperfine interactions can cause are summarised for a non-specialist audience: spin mixing and spin relaxation/decoherence. Particularly for spin mixing, the magnetic field effect and magnetic isotope effect and their common basis, the radical-pair mechanism, are briefly described.
