Description
Large-scale magnetic and radiometric merges are now standard practice in Australia. For all given areas in the compilation, best practice dictates that the highest quality survey data should be incorporated. Historically, this has been a qualitative process based on manual decisions being made by the individual processing the merge. Here, a quantitative algorithmic approach is used which provides significant assistance in determining a precise layering within the merge. To accomplish this, a suite of survey specifications were assessed and scored using an algorithm with a weighted lookup table. This approach was applied to 889 airborne surveys flown in NSW between 1957 and 2023, and a case study is presented demonstrating accurate sorting of surveys from highest to lowest quality.
