Copim und Scaling Small: Community-led publishing infrastructures for open access books
Description
Since 2019, the Copim community has been working to establishe an alternative community- and values-led open ecosystem for open access books. With this presentation, Toby Steiner provides an overview of the different issues - ranging from equitable business and financing models to support open access publishers over to questions of communty governance, metadata management, dissemination and archiving, as well as experimental publishing and accessibility, that Copim has been working to find answers to in its two consecutive project phases of COPIM (Community-led Open Publication Infrastructures for Monographs, 2019-23), and Open Book Futures (2023-26).
