Nuit, sommeil et travail de nuit dans les récits ouvriers
Creators
Description
By reading a selection of workers’ accounts of their work, we propose in this contribution to document several aspects of the relationship between sleep, night and working-class labour. Firstly, work appears to be the material of choice for dream activity. This supports the idea that a significant proportion of workers’ dreams are professional dreams. Secondly, these accounts help to specify the type of fatigue experienced by workers, particularly those in industry. Finally, they attest to the resolutely non-physiological nature of night work.
