8. Salacia verrucosa Wight (1838: 134)

Type:— MYANMAR, Tanintharyi Region, Mergui, s.d. Griffifth s.n. [lectotype, K (K000669978, image! Fig. 8), designated here]; syntypes: ibid. s.d., Griffith 977 E (E00179087, image!); ibid. s.d. Griffith 888 CAL! (CAL0000007475); ibid. s.d. Griffith s.n. MH! (sh. no. 64769).

Salacia verrucosa was described by Wight (1838) based on material by William Griffith from Mergui, Myanmar. In the protologue no type has been given apart from ‘Mergui- communicated by Griffith’. Four specimens were found at CAL, E, K and MH collected by Griffith and annotated by Wight. Specimen placed at K (K 000669978), which best matches with the protologue, is designated here as lectotype, whilst the remaining at E, Griffith 977 (E 00179087), at CAL, Griffith 888 (CAL 0000007475) and Griffith s.n. (MH, sh. no. 64769) as syntypes.
