Description

The talk is about the use of Redivis (an academic data sharing platform) to host the L2 voter file through the UCLA library. Many universities have social science departments that are interested in voting behavior, and national voter files are one of the best tools researchers have to study it. L2 and competitor companies like Catalist and TargetSmart sell large amounts of data to researchers. However, researchers struggle to set up this data in an accessible, secure format. Redivis allowed us at UCLA to compile 3.4 terabytes of national voting data into a single table that undergraduates, graduates, and faculty can access and easily work with in a secure environment.
