Curating and opening legacy silos. Strategies and pragmatics in small research institutions curating institutional legacy data collections

Small research institutions, which have also been increasingly involved in conducting digital projects in recent years, face particular challenges in keeping completed projects available online in the long term, especially if collection-preserving tasks and making their own holdings available digitally are not part of their core mission. Beyond keeping data safe and making it available, here are four principles for enriching “data of the past” so as to render it findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.
