  "title": "ATTRIBUTIONS MADE FOR: Distribución y aspectos taxonómicos de los corales pétreos (Anthozoa: Scleractinia) del Pacífico mexicano",
  "description": "<p>Los corales pétreos (Scleractinia) del Pacífico americano han sido investigados desde 1864, y uno de los aspectos que más ha llamado la atención ha sido su distribución geográfica. Durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, una serie de expediciones permitió delinear de manera general el inventario de las especies y sus ámbitos de distribución en la región. Sin embargo, modificaciones taxonómicas propuestas en la década de los 1980s hicieron necesario un ajuste sobre el conocimiento del tema. Para ese tiempo ya se aceptaba que la mayoría de las especies de agua somera (zooxanteladas o arrecifales) eran, en su mayoría, colonizadoras provenientes del Pacífico occidental. También se encontraron las primeras especies endémicas del oeste de América, y se hicieron nuevos registros de taxa, especialmente en islas oceánicas. La década de los 1990s fue fundamental para el conocimiento de la biogeografía de los escleractinios en el Pacífico mexicano ya que comenzaron a aparecer artículos donde el tema era abordado desde la perspectiva numérica y estadística. Al mismo tiempo, nuevas modificaciones taxonómicas, descubrimientos de especies nuevas (p.ej., Pocillopora effusus, endémica de Oaxaca y descrita en 2000), y de otras recién descubiertas en México (Leptoseris papyracea, cuyo reporte se publicó en 2001) hacen necesaria una reevaluación de la distribución del grupo en el país.\nEl objetivo principal de este estudio es el de inventariar a las especies de corales pétreos presentes en la costa occidental de México (incluyendo las Islas Revillagigedo), con base en revisiones taxonómicas y nomenclaturales recientes, y posteriormente compilar en una base de datos todos los registros disponibles sobre el grupo en la región. El trabajo es interinstitucional y colabora el Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (Ensenada), la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (La Paz), la Universidad de Guadalajara (Puerto Vallarta), y la Universidad del Mar (Puerto Ángel).
