Robustness Strategies: Diagnosing Turbulent Problems and Developing a Robust Mindset

Description

The ROBUST project aims to provide new tools for diagnosing the many small and big fires as an instance of turbulence that may or may not be induced by crisis. It also presents a new governmental strategy for how to deal with turbulence by creating robust governance that provides an alternative to the pursuit of agility and resilience that either tends to sacrifice stability of the alter of innovation or to maintain the status quo ex ante that might neither be attractive nor feasible.

The genealogy and different meanings of the concepts of turbulence and robustness has been presented in D2.1 that also defines the way that these concepts will be used in the ROBUST project and provides ‘proof of concept’ through engagement with the crisis management literature and dialogue with practitioners.

Building on this work, D2.2 aims to reflect on how academics and practitioners can study the robust governance of turbulence.
