Data Information for the CDMet dataset. Before downloading and applying the dataset, please read this text carefully. -----------------------------meteorological variables------------------------------------------ The dataset covers a region of 13.0-59.7°N, 60.0-150.0°E, while only the grid points in China’s mainland area have valid values. The total number of grid point is 553,668. The dataset includes daily 2m maximum temperature (maxtmp), maximum temperature (mintmp), mean temperature (meantmp), total precipitation (pre), skin temperature (gst), 10m wind speed (win), relative humidity (rhu), surface pressure (prs), and sunshine duration (ssd) from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2020, which was interpolated on 699 observation stations using thin-plate spline and random forest with six covariates of location information, terrain information, and reanalysis data. The spatial resolution is 2.5 arcminute (approximately 4km). To reduce the size of NetCDF file, the data of each meteorological variable is divided in the time dimension with an interval of 1 year and stored using int16 format. Thus, each nc file contains 365 or 366 days data; each variable has 21 nc files. Moreover, the units of meteorological variables are set as follow: -maxtmp: K -mintmp: K -meantmp: K -pre: mm -gst: K -win: m/s -rhu: % -prs: hPa -ssd: h The nc file name specifically show the data information. For example, CDMet_mintmp_2000.nc means "CDMet" _ "minimum temperature" _ "year" .nc. -----------------------------storage space------------------------------------------ The dataset includes 189 NetCDF files. Each NetCDF file has 1.64 GB of storage space. Total storage space with NetCDF format is about 310 GB. Thus, all NetCDF files of each meteorological variable were compressed with zip format to reduce the storage space. Total storage space with zip format is about 35.7 GB.
