Food Sharing Landscapes in CULTIVATE Hub Locations: Milan City Profile

This report documents the form, focus and location of FSIs across Milan and reveals a rich and diverse picture of the food sharing activities that operate within the municipality and its peri-urban area. While mapping is essential for locating practices within the city, it is also a necessary step for establishing any unevenness in distribution by different sectors of FSIs across the city. Various socio-economic variables were compared with the incidence of FSIs to explore whether any correlations emerged. No strong correlations were identified, although the limited availability of granular data and the low number of FSI data points restricts the level of statistical analysis that can be undertaken. Further in-depth exploration of the drivers behind the establishment (or not) of particular FSIs in specific locations will be further explored through the CULTIVATE project running until December 2026.
