  "title": "ATTRIBUTIONS MADE FOR: Modelación de la distribución geográfica de las especies del género Abies presentes en México",
  "description": "<p>El género Abies (oyameles, Pinaceae) en México está representado por ocho especies, seis de las cuales son endémicas y con una distribución disyunta. Aunque estas forman bosques con una pequeña distribución en el territorio nacional, estimado en unas 143.579, 28 ha (FAO, 2005), también constituyen el cuarto recurso maderable del país (SEMARNAT, 2007). Además de los usos comerciales de la madera y de la trementina extraída de su corteza, los oyameles presentan otros usos variados, que van desde la medicina tradicional hasta el uso ritual en numerosas festividades religiosas. Sin duda la mayor importancia del género Abies en México radica en los servicios ambientales que proporcionan sus bosques como captación y filtración de agua, mitigación de los efectos del cambio climático, generación de oxígeno y asimilación de diversos contaminantes, protección de la biodiversidad, retención de suelo, refugio de fauna silvestre (por ejemplo el caso de las mariposas moracas), sin olvidar la belleza escénica y recreativa que proporcionan. Sin embargo, como consecuencia directa del mal manejo que se les ha dado y la tala clandestina, seis de las ocho especies reconocidas para México se encuentran en alguna de las categorías de riesgo (NOM-59-SEMARNAT-2010 y Lista Roja de la IUCN) y se encuentran consideradas en el &#34;Listado preliminar de especies incluidas en el sistema de información del Inventario Nacional Forestal y de Suelos (INFyS)&#34; de la CONAFOR. En el presente proyecto proponemos realizar modelos de la distribución geográfica de las especies del género Abies en México, que junto con los datos genéticos producidos por nuestro laboratorio, nos permitirán tener fuentes de información valiosa para proponer mejores programas de conservación para estos taxa. Con los datos de nicho ecológico aquí generados, también se prevé proponer estrategias de conservación hacia el futuro cercano, luego de identificar áreas de probable deterioro acelerado provocado por distintos escenarios de calentamiento global.
