Description

Citation: Laskowski, Cecilia, Manzanal, Diego, Muñiz-Menéndez, Mauro, Orlandi, Sandra, and José Allard. "Evolución de las propiedades micro y macroestructurales de la arenisca de Banco Verde (Formación Salamanca) bajo la acción de dióxido de carbono." Paper presented at the XXVI COngreso Argentino de Mecánica de Suelos e Ingeniería Geotécnica, Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, August 2023.

Data package for: "Carbon dioxide geological storage has become a leading solution in the climate change context, representing a worldwide recognized alternative for its mitigation. When considering the viability of storing CO2 in a particular Formation, it is necessary to study the evolution of the rock’s properties under the effect of the mentioned gas. In this article, the Banco Verde stratum (corresponding to the Salamanca Formation from the San Jorge Gulf Basin) is proposed as a reservoir for CO2. In order to study its feasibility, the modifications produced in the micro and macrostructural properties of the studied sandstone due to a 30-day exposure to a CO2-rich-environment were studied. The laboratory tests performed with this aim were X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP). The series of tests performed were carried out over both types of specimens, unaltered and carbonated. From the results obtained, it can be noted that the rock presents clear variations in its composition, porosity, and pore distribution"
