1056. Protonoceras capitalis (Fabricius, 1794: 229) (Phalaena)

Type locality: Tranquebariae [Tharangambadi, Tamil Nadu]

= Botys tropicalis Walker, 1859a: 670

Type locality: Ceylon [Sri Lanka]

Distribution. Indian records: Sikkim (Hampson 1896b), North India (Rose & Dhillon 1980c), Bombay (Maharashtra), Calcutta (West Bengal), Nilgiri (Tamil Nadu), Dehradun (UP [presently in Uttarakhand]), Dharmsala, Shimla (HP) (Gupta 1994), Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh (Sondhi et al. 2021). Global records: Formosa, Ceylon, Tenasserim (Hampson 1896b), Vietnam (Tonkin) (de Joannis 1930), Australia (Shaffer et al. 1996).
