Description
In this paper we identify and annotate the presence of religious reports in the textbook
"Modern Greek Literature Texts" for the first grade of Junior High School and in particular
with reference to the section of Religious Life. That section of the textbook was selected in
order to highlight the intercultural dimension of literature’s course contents within the frame
of their interdisciplinary use.
The analysis of the textbook moves between two parallel directions: a. the Content Analysis
b. the Didactic Analysis.
Through the Quantitative and Qualitative Content Analysis we aim, firstly, the quantitative
mapping of religious terms and, secondly, their interpretive - qualitative review evaluation
based on the reference frame of the textbook and the corresponding course: the purpose -
targeting of the School Curriculum and the Interdisciplinary Frame for Literature in Junior
High School and the teacher's book.
Through the Geometric Didactical Analysis - Ge.Di.An. we focus on the analysis of questions
and on the tasks - activities that accompany each teaching section and are, in this case, the
research data. We define variables and classes based on taxonomies known in the field of
Didactical Methodology and we categorize the data. Then we discover correlations between the individual classes. This way we draw conclusions on the teaching choices of the authors of the material under examination.
We apply the methodology of the Geometric Didactical Analysis in the Quantitative Analysis
of the content. This way, we evaluate whether the teaching methodology that is suggested in
the analysed teaching sections, is appropriate or not for literary texts. The evaluative
implications are associated with the qualitative analysis of the first phase of the research and
lead to the final conclusions.
It is basically a combination of the method of the Geometric Didactical Analysis - Ge.Di.An.
and the method of Quantitative and Qualitative content analysis, which is attempted for the
first time in scientific research of written sources and constitutes the originality of our work.
