Exemplary Stewardship and Quality Management in Biotechnology-driven Approaches for Cultivating Nutritious Grains

In the pursuit of biotechnology-driven approaches to cultivate nutritious grains, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) places paramount importance on exemplary stewardship and quality management in adherence to the Excellence through Stewardship (ETS) guidelines. IRRI's Stewardship Policy v.2.0 provides essential guidance for transgenic, gene editing, and non-conventional breeding research, with the primary objectives of minimizing risks, maintaining high-quality standards, achieving global stewardship excellence, and upholding scientific integrity. To ensure success, Stewardship and Quality Management (SQM) relies on robust documentation, enhancing existing processes, and developing new ones to maintain a consistent approach throughout the product development journey. This abstract highlights the process flow of implementations achieved through recent advancements in generating nutritious grains via innovative breeding techniques. Emphasizing the pivotal role of excellent stewardship and quality management, this research ensures safety and sustainability in the endeavor to produce nutritionally enhanced grains.
