Description

This policy brief draws from the knowedge produced in the European funded Collaborative Engagement on Societal Issues (COESO) project (2021-2023) to argue for the need to further recognize and support citizen science and participatory research in the social sciences and humanities (SSH). It offers specific recommendations to policy makers, funders and reserach institution administrators to help unlock the full potential of SSH citizen science. The document describes how SSH citizen science needs to be more visible and findable; it needs a coordinated ecosystem of services that provide support for and help valorize it; and reserach-focused partnerships with non-profit organizations and the social economy need to be recognized, supported and valued.
