Climate and Air Quality Indices for the European Social Survey - Design spreadsheet for variables

In the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities project, the 9th Science project of EOSC Future's WP6, we integrate data from the European Social Survey for a selection of big European cities with air quality variables based on data from the European Environmental Agency (EEA) and climate related variables based on data from Copernicus ERA5.

The indicator variables created for the project are based on air quality and weather related indices, like days or periods with bad air quality, heat episode days etc.

This publication iis an excel workbook containing an introduction, as well as two spreadsheets that describes how the air quality and climate related indices were developed, including characteristics of the target variables produced, as well as the source variables used to create them. The spreadsheets also include human readable descriptions about how the variables have been computed, and a links to the code in the Python script that produce them.
