- Data from automated sensors measuring parking lot occupancy are examined.
- Data come from eight different touristic parking areas in Germany.
- Manual counts were performed to validate automatic sensor data.
- Data show unsystematic and erratic drifts in the counts, leading to inaccurate occupancy data.
- Without further correction, data from sensors cannot be used for tourism recommender systems.
