Comparisons of total power loss measurements on Co-Fe and Si-Fe performed by Epstein frame under operational temperatures

Description

The transition towards electrification and greener technologies will see an unprecedented uptake in electrical machines, which will require machines with greater efficiencies to be designed and built. To achieve this a greater understanding of the magnetic materials is needed. It has long been known that the magnetic properties of materials are dramatically influenced by the operational conditions; frequency, temperature, and stress all play a significant role in determining the material's AC power loss and magnetic properties. As a consequence, there has been increasing industrial demand for representative material datasets. To facilitate this, the metrology and good practices associated with measurements made at operational conditions needs to be better defined to allow for future standardisation.
