We investigate analytically and by Monte\nCarlo simulations feasible data transmission rates in a moderatesize\noffice room, where we assume illumination conforming to\nstandards and the use of commercially available LEDs and\nphotodiodes. The performances of systems relying on base-band\n(i.e. Pulse-Amplitude Modulation -PAM) and discrete multi-tone\n(DMT) transmission show that data rates of more than\n100 Mbit/s can be expected despite the rather low bandwidth of\nthe system.",
