    <dct:description>&lt;p&gt;This  article  aims  to  present  a  study  on  the  applicability  of  isolated  photovoltaic  systems.  Therefore,  it  was&lt;br&gt; necessary  to  conduct an  economic  feasibility  analysis  through  a  basic dimensioning  of  a photovoltaic  power&lt;br&gt; system,  using as basis a residence located in the Serra Catarinense. This discussion was based on studies of&lt;br&gt; Cabral et al (2013), Serrão  (2010), and Vasconcelos (2013). The methodology was qualitative and quantitative&lt;br&gt; by analyzing the incidence of solar radiation  in Brazil and especially in the region of Serra of Santa Catarina,&lt;br&gt; main focus of the study. This research showed that the main factor that makes this application unfeasible is the&lt;br&gt; lack of incentives from the government, while European countries apply publ ic policies with tax incentives for&lt;br&gt; the implementation of sustainable energy, such as solar, the Brazil begins to crawl with regulations for the use&lt;br&gt; of solar energy. Although still very low in Brazil, it is believed that in the future, this source can be e xplored and&lt;br&gt; better utilized, since solar power is viable in some regions of Brazil even with the high cost of implementation.&lt;br&gt; In relation to social and ecological aspect, this energy source can reduce the overhead on the electric system,&lt;br&gt; and thus reduces energy dependence on fossil fuels, as well as being a clean source that does not emit gases that&lt;br&gt; damage the ozone layer.&lt;/p&gt;</dct:description>
