Description

This poster presents the result of a study on the potential implementation of the essential-use concept within the Restriction process under the REACH Regulation. To do so, decisions on derogations which have been granted in previous restriction dossier were analyzed to determine whether the reasoning behind the decision could be related to the essential-use concept. The essential-use concept was also applied in the concrete example of the restriction on intentionally added microplastics by following the framework proposed by WSP and based on the information available in the dossier. The main aim of this study was to determine whether changes in the REACH Restriction process are necessary to implement the essential-use concept.
