Description

This paper is a faunistic review of 23 species of the family Saldidae occurring in Poland. The study was based on the original papers relating to the territory of Poland and on materials deposited in several institutions, i.e. University of Opole (UO), Museum and Institute of Zoology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw (ZMPA), and in Nature Collections of the Faculty of Biology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (ZPUAM). Over 4000 specimens preserved at the institutions mentioned above have been examined, identified, or their previous identifications were verified. All the localities (with their UTM coordinates) for each of the 23 species occurring in Poland are listed in alphabetical order and, consequently, presented on UTM maps (Gierlasiński 2022). Taxonomy, nomenclature and synonymies are given according to the Catalogue of the Heteroptera of the Palaearctic Region (Aukema & Rieger 1995). Zoogeograph-ical regions of Poland follow the Katalog Fauny Polski (Burakowski et al. 1973). As a result, almost 800 new records are provided, including over 30 localities recorded for the first time at the 15 zoogeographical regions: ▪ Chartoscirta cincta cincta (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1841): new to Eastern Sudetes Mts; ▪ Charoscirta cocksii (Curtis, 1835): new to Mazowiecka Lowland; ▪ Halosalda lateralis (Fallén, 1807): new to Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland; ▪ Salda litoralis (Linnaeus, 1758): new to Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland; ▪ Salda morio Zetterstedt, 1838: new to Baltic Coast and Nowotarska Dale; ▪ Saldula arenicola (Scholtz, 1847): new to Małopolska Upland, Sandomierska Lowland, Świętokrzyskie Mts, Trzebnickie Hills, Western Sudetes Mts; ▪ Saldula fucicola (J. R. Sahlberg, 1870): new to Nowotarska Dale; ▪ Saldula opacula (Zetterstedt, 1938): new to Eastern Beskidy Mts, Małopolska Upland, Mazurian Lake District, Nowotarska Dale, Pieniny Mts, Pomeranian Lake District, Świętokrzyskie Mts, Western Sudetes Mts, Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland; ▪ Saldula orthochila (Fieber, 1859): new to Trzebnickie Hills; ▪ Saldula pallipes (Fabricius, 1794): new to Eastern Sudetes Mts, Małopolska Upland, Mazowieca Lowland, Roztocze Upland; ▪ Saldula palustris (Douglas, 1874): new to Pomeranian Lake District, Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland; ▪ Saldula saltatoria (Linnaeus, 1758): new to Nowotarska Dale, Małopolska Upland, Pieniny Mts: ▪ Teloleuca pellucens (Fabricius, 1779): new to Nowotarska Dale. The occurrence of Saldidae species in particular zoogeographical regions of Poland is also presented in Table 1. Baltic Coast, Lubelska Upland and Wielkopolsko-Kujawska Lowland are the best investigated regions (ryc. 37). Moreover Saldula saltatoria, S. arenicola and S. pallipes seems to be the commonest species of Saldidae in Poland (Table 1).
