Rattus tunneyi Thomas, 1904. Novit. Zool., 11:223.
TYPE LOCALITY: Australia, Northern Territory, Mary River.
DISTRIBUTION: N. and S.W. Western Australia, Northern Territory, E. Queensland, and N.E. New South Wales (Australia).
COMMENT: Includes culmorum and melvilleus; see Taylor and Horner, 1973, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 150 (l): 92. This species will hybridize with colletti but the hybrids exhibit reduced fertility (CHSW).
