GRAIN PAWNSHOPS AS A FORM OF COMMODITY CREDIT AT THE END OF THE XIX-TH - BEGINNING OF THE XX-TH CENTURY

Description

The article discusses the organization and activities of special credit institutions - grain pawnshops, which functioned at the turn of the ХХ- th century in the Russian Empire. In fact, the functions of a "bread pawnshop" were performed by elevators. The main goal of their activities was to relieve the peasant from the need to sell bread at a low price in autumn to pay annual taxes.
