ОБРАЗ ЖІНКИ-МАТЕРІ У ЗБІРЦІ ОПОВІДАНЬ Е. МАНРО «ЗАБАГАТО ЩАСТЯ»

Description

The article examines the image of a mother in the work of the Canadian writer Alice Munro. In this regard, two stories were analyzed: «Dimensions» and «Face», which are part of E. Munro's collection «Too Much Happiness» (2009).
E. Munro presents different types and destinies of women, even their motherhood is not similar. However, the writer manages to create a conditional general portrait of a woman-mother that reflects the current state of motherhood in society and society itself.
Given the conciseness of the author's style, the images of mothers in E. Munroe’s stories are quite voluminous and meaningful; together they illustrate the general idea: the fate of motherhood is the fate of humanity.
Through the poetical features of her stories, the writer provides the author's assessment of the social situation and the status of mother. E. Munro invites readers to deepen their understanding of modernity from another angle (through the image of a mother in particular) produced by the author's creative view.
