    <description descriptionType="Abstract">&lt;p&gt;This deliverable supplies a demonstration of the unicellular component (essentially phytoplankton, bacteria and&lt;br&gt;
micro zooplankton) of a generalized trait-based plankton model, and is a direct output from Task 3.1 Generalized&lt;br&gt;
trait-based model of plankton. It outlines and documents the scientific basis of the model and provides a list of&lt;br&gt;
parameters and algorithms. The deliverable includes sample output from the model. The model is validated through&lt;br&gt;
comparison with observations on a global scale, as well as through sensitivity analysis of parameter values. Finally,&lt;br&gt;
the deliverable outlines steps towards integration, in a trait-based model of the pelagic environment that explicitly&lt;br&gt;
simulates both the unicellular and multicellular (metazoan and fish) components.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
