1 + 1 Cyclocondensation or 1,13-diamino-4,7,10-trioxatridecane with a-diketones such as 2,3-butanedione, 2,3-pentanedione, 2,3-hexanedione and 3,4-hexanedione in tbe presence of Mg2, Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ ions as templates yields a series of complexes or the type [MLX]X (where M = MgII, X = CJ·; M = caII, SrII and BaII, X = NCS·; L = N2o3 type macrocycle having 17-membered ring). The resulting complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, conductance measuruements and IR, 1H NMR and FAB mass spectral studies.
