Stability of Ship and Other Bodies

Bar-Meir, Genick

300 hundred years of stability treatment are changing  to use new ideas transforming the stability  to a new era.  For example concepts like rotation point (line) are discussed and it is shown that rotation is not around the metacenter but around now point at the liquid line. Further this point moves depending on the geometry. Because this new discovery, the common approach is erroneous and the new  method demonstrates and leads to stability criteria.  This lead to fact that new equation govern and the ship does not regular but chaotic movement.  The ship isn't what is referred to as a special double pendulum.  Furthermore, the modern dimensionless approach is introduced for the first time and demonstrates the usefulness of the approach in ship stability. For example, the long table recommendations are replaced by simple equations that can be generalized. The book stars with basic geometric shapes  and demonstrate stability zone a new concept that was developed in this book.  As by product a new  and elegant method  was developed to calculate the centroid of a circle segment.   Many  new  other concepts are introduced which upgrade  this field to a new level.

The book include innovative material that many aspects of ship not described before.
