<p>A series of complexes of the type [M(TML)X]X2 ; where TML is a tetradentate macrocyclic ligand, M = CrIII and Fe<strong>III, </strong>X = Cl– , CH3COO– or NO3<strong> –</strong> , have been synthesized by template condensation reaction of dimedone and thiocarbohydrazide in the presence of trivalent metal salts in a methanolic medium. The complexes have been characterized with the help of elemental analyses, conductance measurements, magnetic measurements, electronic, infrared, far infrared and Mass spectral studies. On the basis of all these studies, a five coordinated square pyramidal geometry has been proposed for all these complexes. These metal complexes have also been tested for their <em>in vitro</em> antimicrobial activities against some bacterial strains and some fungal strains.</p>
