PLATO&#39;s superb photometric sensitivity and long dwell time make it ideal for study of the (presumed) population of similar such exoplanets. Inspired by the work of Barnes and Fortney (2004), I consider the detectability of Saturn-like exoplanetary rings by PLATO. I introduce a software package in development, capable of simulating the transits of exoplanets hosting complex ring systems, and which can take advantage of the parallel processing power of GPUs. Finally, I highlight the potential impact on extracted planetary radii, and by extension densities, under the assumption of no rings.</p></dct:description> <dct:accessRights rdf:resource="http://publications.europa.eu/resource/authority/access-right/PUBLIC"/> <dct:accessRights> <dct:RightsStatement rdf:about="info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess"> <rdfs:label>Open Access</rdfs:label> </dct:RightsStatement> </dct:accessRights> <dcat:distribution> <dcat:Distribution> <dct:license rdf:resource="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"/> <dcat:accessURL rdf:resource="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5552616"/> </dcat:Distribution> </dcat:distribution> <dcat:distribution> <dcat:Distribution> <dcat:accessURL rdf:resource="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5552616"/> <dcat:byteSize>1128642</dcat:byteSize> <dcat:downloadURL rdf:resource="https://zenodo.org/record/5552616/files/The detectability of Saturn-like exoplanetary rings by PLATO.pdf"/> <dcat:mediaType>application/pdf</dcat:mediaType> </dcat:Distribution> </dcat:distribution> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF>
