This poster is a visual representation of the methodological workflow developed as part of my PhD project "Text Mining America's German-Language Newspapers, 1830-1914: Processing Ger(wo)manness," which I am currently completing at the German Historical Institute Washington [Link] to receive a PhD Degree in American Literature and Culture from the University of Stuttgart. My PhD project developed out of a larger international Digital Humanities research project titled "Oceanic Exchanges: Tracing Global Information Networks In Historical Newspaper Repositories, 1840-1914," which brought together a research team of scholars from seven countries in Europe and the Americas to study structural, textual, and conceptual network systems of digitized historical newspaper collections [Link].
The PhD project was selected by the committee of the AG Digitale Geschichte and chosen for the poster pitch for the "Peter Haber Prize for Digital History" at the Historikertag 2021 [Link] and awarded with the first prize [Link].
