  "abstract": "<p>&quot;The Exciting News of Ostend&quot; virtual exhibition explores the siege of Ostend (1601-1604),&nbsp;one of the great sieges of early modern times, through letters, handwritten newsletters, printed books, maps and paintings.<br>\nIt&nbsp;reconstructs both the impact the siege&nbsp;had on the lives of the soldiers and the people involved, and its media impact.
