Read Me for ColorTemperatureMetabolicRate.csv This file contains data from the experiment on the effects of caterpillar body coloration and ambient temperature on metabolic rate, measured as O2 consumption. Columns: ID: An individual ID for each caterpillar tested consisting of its color followed by an arbitrary letter or number. Whenever possible, each individual was tested at each of the two temperatures. Color: Categorical, 'Black' or 'Red', the body color of the tested caterpillar TestTemp: Celsius, the ambient temperature at which metabolic rate was measured, either 30 or 42 degrees Mass: grams, the mass of the caterpillar, reweighed before each measurement so it can differ among measurements of the same caterpillar VO2: metabolic rate, measured in mLO2/g/hr (i.e. mL oxygen consumed per g caterpillar mass per hour) NumberOfReads: number of metabolic measurements taken at a rate of 1 per second which were averaged to produce VO2; equal to 500 unless measurements were only stable for a shorter time period
