Context for this profile
\n\nCSCCE Community Profiles provide a snapshot of scientific communities. The data for these profiles were collected by surveying scientific community managers as part of a research project conducted by CSCCE staff. This profile showcases the Code for Science & Society Event Fund, and is part of a second collection of profiles published in July 2021. You can view and download all of the CSCCE Community Profiles, including those in the first collection that was published in 2020, here. If you would like CSCCE to create a profile for your scientific community or organization, please contact us: info@cscce.org.
\n\nAbout CSCCE
\n\nThe Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement (CSCCE) champions the importance of human infrastructure for effective collaboration in STEM. We provide training and support for the people who make scientific collaborations succeed at scale - and we also research the impact of these emerging roles. \r\n\r\nThe goal of CSCCE is to professionalize and institutionalize the role of the community engagement manager (CEM) within science. All of our activities are in service of this.
\r\n\r\nYou can find more information about our training and consulting offerings on our website. We also convene a community of practice for community managers in STEM, and host regular community-engaged events.
\r\n\r\nHere on Zenodo you can find CSCCE-produced resources available for free download. These include:
\r\n\r\nA three-part guide to CSCCE’s community participation model:
\r\n\r\nPart one introduces the model and outlines how to use it to guide community programming.
\r\n\tPart two explores the role of community champions in maintaining, growing, and evolving a community.
\r\n\tPart three takes a look at the importance of scaffolding for building inclusive communities.
\r\n\tA four-part series on using virtual events to facilitate community building:
\r\n\r\nMaking a PACT for more engaging virtual meetings and events offers a framework for planning a virtual event.
\r\n\tNext we take a look at selecting and testing online tools.
\r\n\tThe event formats section, co-authored by members of our community, shares a number of ways to convene online.
\r\n\tIn the curated resources section you’ll find a collection of additional articles, guides, and tools to make your next event a success.
\r\n\tA growing collection of community profiles that showcase a wide variety of STEM communities using CSCCE’s core frameworks to describe their programming.
