ProAc: Profiling, instead of ranking, academics

Description

Academia currently ranks academics and the ranking is mainly based on one single, flawed number, the h-index. This proposal suggest to move forward to ProAc (www.fabiocrameri.ch/proac), a data-based, visual toolbox that allows to profile academics based on not just one, but a selection of elaborate indices. Crucially, this will reduce unnecessary competition between academics and current ranking biases, and foster high-quality, instead of high-quantity, research. And it will provide funding to a keen academic.

Notes

This proposal has previously been rejected by a traditional academic funding agency despite solely positive reviewer comments.
