<p>A presentation made to the Association of Brazilian Archivists about the history of the early years in the free and open source <a href="https://accesstomemory.org">Access to Memory</a> (AtoM) software project. It includes a description of the project's motivations, goals, and the collaboration with the International Council on Archives. It ends with a description of the software's features, data model, and the technical architecture decisions that were made to arrive at the first beta release.</p>
