&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Gpyro is a powerful open-source simulation tool to study solid pyrolysis and smouldering combustion&lt;/strong&gt;. Grpyo stands for &amp;#39;Generalized Pyrolysis Model for Combustible Solids&amp;#39; and was created by Dr Chris Lautenberger in 2006 at UC Berkeley.&amp;nbsp;We produce this workbook&amp;nbsp;to help Gpyro users.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Due to the large number of input parameters and high degree of flexibility of the code, Gpyro beginners may found some difficulties in using this tool.&amp;nbsp;We adapted a series of solid pyrolysis and smouldering cases found in the literature and show step-by-step how to use Gpyro to solve them. In the solutions, the key setting steps and simulation results are shown along with some input files attached as reference. We hope this document can serve as a complementary document to the official user-supporting files (ie. technical reference and user&amp;rsquo;s guidance) and provide more details for the implementation of Gpyro. Since it is a complementary rather than an overall user&amp;rsquo;s guidance, before reading this document, users should first read through technical reference and user&amp;rsquo;s guidance to get familiar with the basics on concepts, physical models, and implementation of Gpyro.&lt;/p&gt;</subfield>
