The learning objective of this presentation is to understand the aims and principles of Linked Data. Concepts covered include Linked Data and the Semantic Web, how ontologies and their structures are expressed, creating RDF triples, and SPARQL. Practical sections of this material include exercises to examine the Wikidata knowledge graph, compare a selection of ontologies, create RDF triples and upload them to a Blazegraph triplestore, query uploaded data, and explore other query services.

This material is part of the CODATA-RDA/FAIRsFAIR Data Steward Training.

As acknowledged in the presentation, a portion of these slides have been reused and adapted from training materials produced by Terhi Nurmikko-Fuller (Australian National University), David Weigl (University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna) and Stefan Münnich (Universität Basel).
