<p>In view of the connection between the cumulative CO<sub>2</sub> emissions and global warming, as described e.g. in the IPCC Special Report October 2018, the key question arises how a globally remaining budget could be realistically distributed among countries. Discussion of this issue can contribute to NDCs that are, in sum, Paris compatible.</p>
<p>Resource sharing models directly address the allocation of such a remaining global budget. This article will therefore give an overview of the properties of resource sharing models that, in principle, use current emissions and population as a distribution key.</p>
