    <dct:description>&lt;p&gt;Anno 2021 zijn bibliotheken meer dan een uitleendienst voor boeken: zij hebben een stevige maatschappelijke positie in het hart van de lokale samenleving verworven. Toch staat de brede functie van de bibliotheek vaak nog niet helder op het netvlies van lokale, provinciale en landelijke stakeholders en subsidi&amp;euml;nten. Een veelgehoorde roep om daarin verandering te brengen, is die om informatie over de maatschappelijke waarde en effecten van programma&amp;rsquo;s. Die informatie moet bijdragen aan een goede profilering, maar ook aan een beter inzicht in het presteren van de bibliotheek op haar maatschappelijke taak. Vooral op het domein van basisvaardigheden is veel behoefte aan inzicht in impact. Bibliotheken verbreden en professionaliseren daar hun aanbod, maar zoeken ook naar een stevige &lt;em&gt;evidence base&lt;/em&gt; om hun betekenis op dit domein te onderbouwen en te verantwoorden.&lt;/p&gt;</dct:description>
