This presentation describes the goals, process and some of the challenges faced, when developing a common Open Science policy for a medium-sized science-oriented university faculty, as well as the resulting recommendations and the response from the Faculty leadership and researchers. The overall process includes landscape analysis of existing policies, boundary conditions (resources, etc.), services. and needs, finding a representative working group and drafting the overall recommendations in a way which can be widely accepted. The presentation will go more in detail, but the overall recommendations can be shortly described in the following seven principles:
\n\nRecommendation 1: Set the overall faculty policy on science products: “as open as possible, as closed as necessary”
\n\nRecommendation 2: Value the open science products in the staff annual development discussions
\n\nRecommendation 3: Consider open science products in unit, department and tenure track evaluations
\n\nRecommendation 4: Require listing of Open Science Products in recruiting
\n\nRecommendation 5: Create a short, clear and well documented knowledge base of open science best practices in the faculty
\n\nRecommendation 6: Organise structured staff training on the best practices, facilitate peer support, and open science culture in the Faculty
\n\nRecommendation 7: Develop open science content for curriculum MSc and Doctoral programs
\n\nThe poster includes the results from the initial landscape analysis of the Faculty needs, a short descriptions of the feedback received from the different groups engaged in the activity, and status report and encountered challenges for application of the principles.

The Open Science Conference 2021 is the 8th international conference of the Leibniz Research Alliance Open Science. The annual conference is dedicated to the Open Science movement and provides a unique forum for researchers, librarians, practitioners, infrastructure providers, policy makers, and other important stakeholders to discuss the latest and future developments in Open Science.
\r\n\r\nThis year’s conference will especially focus on the effects and impact of (global) crises and associated societal challenges, such as the Corona pandemic or the climate change, to open research practices and science communication in the context of the digitisation of science. And vice versa, how open practices help to cope with crises. Overall, the conference addresses topics around Open Science such as:
