<p>The SIMPLE Archive project -- the Substellar and IMaged PLanet Explorer Archive of Complex Objects -- is an endeavor to create a collaboratively maintained database of low-mass stars, brown dwarfs, and directly-imaged planetary mass objects using GitHub, Python, and SQL. We envision the SIMPLE Archive to eventually hold lightly curated data for free-floating brown dwarfs/planetary-mass objects and late-type/substellar companions to stars. We plan to archive data for brown dwarfs with spectral types M7 and later and directly imaged planetary mass objects, including their spectra, images, and modeled parameters. A major goal of this project is to facilitate the sharing of JWST spectra among interested community members. We are in the process of making both a website and a command line interface to interact with the archive, including both data queries and ingestion. The website will provide a way to visualize spectra and images of objects in the archive. We are actively building and populating the database and developing the website via weekly co-working meetings. The current development team includes folks from a range of career stages, programming experience levels, and astronomy experience and we welcome more people to join us! All of the code and objectives can be found on GitHub at https://github.com/SIMPLE-AstroDB/SIMPLE-db/ and https://github.com/SIMPLE-AstroDB/SIMPLE-web/. Folks can also join the Simple Archive Google group for occasional project updates and/or the #simple-db-dev channel in the Astropy Slack workspace for development discussion.</p>
