The dynamical history of young star forming regions is a difficult thing to study because kinematic structure is quickly erased as the regions evolve. We explore the application of the Moran's I statistic to look for kinematic signatures of this initial structure which persist. The ability to diagnose a cluster's evolutionary origins and history would be a powerful tool in distinguishing which models of star formation best reflect reality.
