KGClim is a new 1-km global dataset of historical and future Köppen-Geiger climate classification maps and bioclimatic variables. The dataset provides high-resolution descriptions of long-term (30-yr) climate conditions for historical and future periods. The historical periods are 1979-2008, 1980-2009, 1981-2010, 1982-2011, 1983-2012, 1984-2013, 1985-2014, 1986-2015, 1987-2016, and 1988-2017. The future periods are 2020-2049, 2040-2069, 2060-2089, and 2070-2099 under RCP2.6, 4.5, 6.0, and 8.5. File naming system for the folders are as follows: KGClim_V1_historical_1979_2008: past climate 1979-2008 KGClim_V1_future_rcp8_5_2030s: future climate 2020-2049 under RCP8.5 The Köppen-Geiger climate classification and bioclimatic variables are coded as follows: kc = The Köppen-Geiger climate classification kc_conf = Confidence level of the Köppen-Geiger climate classification tavg = Annual mean temperature (100 x Celsius degree) twm = Temperature of the warmest month (100 x Celsius degree) tcm = Temperature of the coldest month (100 x Celsius degree) ptot = Annual precipitation (mm) pwm = Precipitation of the warmest half year (mm) pcm = Precipitation of the coldest half year (mm) pdm = Precipitation of the driest month (mm) pdmsumm = Precipitation of the driest month in the warmest half year (mm) pdmwint = Precipitation of the driest month in the coldest half year (mm) pwm = Precipitation of the wettest month (mm) pwmsumm = Precipitation of the wettest month in the warmest half year (mm) pwmwint = Precipitation of the wettest month in the coldest half year (mm) The link between the numeric values in the classification maps and Köppen-Geiger climate classes is as follows: 110 Af Tropical, rainforest 120 Aw Tropical, savannah 130 Am Tropical, monsoon 211 BWh Arid, desert, hot 212 BWk Arid, desert, cold 221 BSh Arid, steppe, hot 222 BSk Arid, steppe, cold 311 Csa Temperate, dry summer, hot summer 312 Csb Temperate, dry summer, warm summer 313 Csc Temperate, dry summer, cold summer 321 Cwa Temperate, dry winter, hot summer 322 Cwb Temperate, dry winter, warm summer 323 Cwc Temperate, dry winter, cold summer 331 Cfa Temperate, without dry season, hot summer 332 Cfb Temperate, without dry season, warm summer 333 Cfc Temperate, without dry season, cold summer 411 Dsa Boreal, dry summer, hot summer 412 Dsb Boreal, dry summer, warm summer 413 Dsc Boreal, dry summer, cold summer 414 Dsd Boreal, dry summer, very cold winter 421 Dwa Boreal, dry winter, hot summer 422 Dwb Boreal, dry winter, warm summer 423 Dwc Boreal, dry winter, cold summer 424 Dwd Boreal, dry winter, very cold winter 431 Dfa Boreal, without dry season, hot summer 432 Dfb Boreal, without dry season, warm summer 433 Dfc Boreal, without dry season, cold summer 434 Dfd Boreal, without dry season, very cold winter 510 ET Polar, tundra 520 EF Polar, frost
