EOSC within National Strategies for Digital Skills: Consultation and Focus Group Report

This report is the third deliverable of the study assigned by EOSC Secretariat, entitled: EOSC WITHIN NATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR DIGITAL SKILLS.

The objective of the report is to present

  • the results of  an online consultation that took place in November 2020  with 65 participants, in order to analyse and provide insights on how to best position EOSC Skills and Training in Digital Skills in national strategies and agendas (advocacy), as well as to develop a list for recommendations for various types of policy makers, with the purpose of providing well-rounded, all-inclusive (research-government-industry-public) options to include in national strategies for Digital Skills and upskilling. The consultation takes into account the results of the landscape and gap analysis tasks and is structured around two pillars: a) The identified gaps related to four "building blocks (BB)" of the Digital Skills (DS) & Open Science (OS) ecosystem and b) the key action areas related to integrating EOSC objectives to national policies.
  • the findings of a focus group that took place in December 2020 with 17 participants to discuss and comment on 11 key topics which formed the basis for the final recommendations for EOSC positioning in national strategies. They experts covered and provided expertise on policies, FAIR & Openness, EOSC leadership, researchers upskilling, researchers’ career development, digital skills qualification, research ethical practice, learning environments/technologies and infrastructure, citizen’s science, research upskilling governance, cross-disciplinary cooperation (research/public/industry).
